Warren L. Miller passed away peacefully Feb. 8, 2013, at Golden Empire Convalescent Hospital in Grass Valley, Calif. He was 82. A celebration of life will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2013, at Calvary Bible Church, 11481 State Highway 174, Grass Valley. Pastor Andy Owens will officiate. All family and friends are welcome. Warren was born Dec. 7, 1930, to Dean L. Miller Sr. and Marie (Foss) Miller in Oakland, Calif. He met Doris Thomas on a blind date, and they were married six months later in 1948 in Hayward. They lived in Fremont, and then in 1971, the couple moved to Grass Valley. Warren loved to travel, gamble a little and play card games with the family. He was an artist when it came to building things, and he loved woodworking, camping, fishing, hunting and skiing, and he loved to joke around with his family and friends. He was involved in different local youth outreach programs. He was also a member of the 2030 club in Hayward.
Warren is survived by his wife of 64 years, Doris Miller; daughter Stacy (Sam) Triano, foster son Jim Sheidler, sisters Barbara Miller and Betty (Renny) Petersen of New Jersey; grandchildren Thomas (Jessy) O'Brien of Grass Valley, Simon Olson of the Bay Area and Sarah Olson of the Bay Area and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, mother Marie (Foss) Miller and Dean L. Miller Sr; stepmother Dela Miller; brother Dean L. Miller Jr., daughter Kim (Miller) Daniels.
The family would like to thank all of the people who lovingly cared for Warren at Brunswick Village and Golden Empire Convalescent Hospital in Grass Valley. A special thank you to a man Warren called "Marv."
